Outsider beat-poet and composer Eden Ahbez already was leading the hippie life long before the movement existed. Best known for writing the classic song 'Nature Boy' in 1947, he released his exotica masterpiece 'Eden's Island' in 1960. Now back on vinyl, the album is an epic conceptual work about a utopian society on a far-away island where people live in peace and harmony. The music itself is at least as interesting, blending relaxed grooves with dreamy vocals, easy swing with Latin, and folk traditions from around the world with more powerful sections.
