Bloomfield, Mike
Fillmore West 1969
The late, great Mike Bloomfield is recognised as one of the
finest and most influential blues guitarists that America has
ever produced. Best known for his astonishing technique and the piercing tone of his solos, he was a member of the
ground-breaking Paul Butterfield Blues Band, played on Dylan's 'Like A Rolling Stone' and backed him at the 1965 Newport
Folk Festival when Dylan first went 'electric.' In 1969, legendary promoter Bill Graham would be left speechless by the
sheer brilliance of Bloomfield and his band when they opened for Chuck Berry at the Fillmore West. As a result, he
placed them at the top of the bill to replace The Byrds a week later! That spectacular performance that Graham witnessed
on Sunday, February 2nd 1969 is presented here in all its unedited glory.
Rox Vox revisits a timeless classic in blues rock from a
golden era in music with a fully restored and professionally
remastered original KSAN-FM broadcast. Presented with
background notes and timeline photos.
