Cymbals Eat Guitars is an indie rock band from Staten Island, New York, founded by high school mates Joseph D'Agostino and Matthew Miller. The band's name comes from a Lou Reed quote, describing the sound of the Velvet Underground. Musically the band somewhat reminds of the aforementioned VU and '90s indie rock à la Pavement, Sebadoh and Beck. The band first gained buzz in 2009 with its self-released debut album 'Why There Are Mountains'. This 2016 album showcases a significant progression in many aspects.
