The four tracks on 'Sun Explosion' (originally released in 1978) straddle a series of styles from the lazy, reggae jazz of opener 'Anty', to the more traditional "Manu" Afro-funk-jazz sound of 'Matumba'. Remember it's 1978 and disco is in the air. The sounds of the times have made their way into the string epic, funky 'Motapo' and the driving brass and funky xylophone on 'Sun Explosion'. An album that sounds surprisingly at home in today's current musical climate.
