In the last few years Craig Fortnam has lost his brother, mother and dear friend Tim Smith of The Cardiacs. Some of the pieces and themes on 'Ark' were written as requiems of a sort. Long standing fans will hear characteristic harmonic tones inspired by a.o. Henry Purcell, Vaughan Williams, Benjamin Britten, early Pink Floyd and latter day Cardiacs.
