Here's an intriguing release from the duo featuring guitarist David Lester (Mecca Normal) and experimental solo artist and writer Wendy Atkinson. 'I Knew I Was A Rebel Then' features a six-song full-length CD and an accompanying chapbook, which includes two intertwined stories on the nature of triumph, defeat and legacy. The CD's centrepiece is a 22-minute song based on the life of Buenaventura Durruti, who died fighting fascism in Spain. Lester's histrionic guitar playing and Atkinson's rhythm provide the perfect soundtrack to not just the book, but this moment in time.
