'A Prayer For The Birds' was written by Crystal's partner and musical director Icarus Peel and was inspired by their shared love of nature and the environment. While the album may offer something familiar and dependable, it's another step forward in a musical journey that started some years ago. For this album, Jacqueline is joined by new backing singers Victoria Reyes and Elaine Lightfoot. Victoria also plays exquisite oboe and Lizzy Wayne, who's also played with the Honey Pot, adds flute. Both players and instruments add new colours to a rich pastoral sonic palette. Jacqueline and her band lay down a deep-pile carpet to walk on, a perfectly heated pool to swim in, an adequately logged fireplace to lie in front of. It's a musical gift to the world and a prayer for the birds.
