A vinyl reissue of a great LP from the UK's late '70s and early '80s mod-revival scene that also brought us bands s.a. The Secret Affair, Purple Hearts, Lambrettas, Chords and The Jam. Released in 1983, Get Smart! was made when Squire returned to the live circuit after a sabbatic period. The album showed a more ellaborated production, and a broad pallet of influences including the usual '60s mod heroes as well as now also The Beach Boys and The Byrds. Sophisticated structures and vocal arrangements were brought in, and creative force Anthony Meynell also added a high dose of Rickenbacker 12-string sounds. A horn section and a slightly psychedelic feel are present here and there, but the guys managed to keep the sound as fresh and fun as they are expected to. This issue has remastered sound and includes a colour insert with photos and detailed liner notes written by Anthony Meynell himself. Limited to 500 copies.
