Credited to Unscientific Italians, this album (here on BLACK VINYL) is not so much a tribute or an orchestral reworking of Frisell's repertoire, but rather a rewriting and idiosyncratic orchestration that borrows the compositional and instrumental language of the American guitarist. It is a work that also has a documentary value, since it gives large space to seminal phase of Frisell's record production - the early '90s - which today seems to be forgotten despite its definitive consecration in terms of audience and critics. This record release, the first of two volumes, is published with the approval of Frisell himself, who generously donated some of his own sketches for cover graphics.
