'VOYAGE THROUGH THE DEEP '80S UNDERGROUND IN ITALY'. - The 391 project was founded in 1983 by two troubled teenagers from the quiet provincial town Ascoli Piceno. The intention was to release a series of compilations tape, representing worthwhile sounds from the Italian underground. The name was chosen as a tribute to the American dadaist magazine. The intention was to (re)present the best and most radical new wave and post-punk groups, region by region. The 391 project came to an end in 1985, after having released two volumes, dedicated to Marche and Umbria.
